It’s hard to put into words the person who embodies the name Roy Waugh. And to say Roy is a great vocalist

does not begin to describe the person. Over the past 25 years, this well seasoned performer has received many accolades for his vocal talent. Inspired by his mother Debbie, watching him secretly from around the corner singing into a hairbrush to songs on the radio at the age of 5, who would praise his imaginary performances.  She told him that someday, he would sing before millions of people and everyone would know his name.  She would dance with him and applaud every performance and tell him that he would sing for kings and queens all over the world.  Roy's mom was born deaf.  With all the singing that he has done all over this country thus far on TV and Radio etc; She has never heard a note.

Roy has been blessed with the charisma and natural talent required to bridge the gaps between cultural and age barriers. His commanding yet tender tenor voice offers more than a powerful musical experience. He uses life’s unexpected challenges to bring hope and encouragement, repeatedly exciting capacity filled audiences to their feet; leaving them laughing and crying at the same time.

This once Olympic Gymnastic hopeful found himself torn from the chances of making the United States Gymnastic Team when a few weeks before nationals, a freak accident caused severe damage to his spine. Roy was told he may never walk again. He, however, refused to accept that “sentence” from his doctors. He endured many painful surgeries and years of rehabilitation to prove not only to himself, but also to anyone who meets him that

anything is possible, if you just believe.

Its ironic that a man who has faced so many “Giants” in his life, would star as the legendary

biblical character King David in the celebrated national touring production of, “David; A Man After God’s Own Heart.” By Cam Floria of Christian Artists Association.

Some of Roy’s other honors include:

  • Being chosen for the opening act and celebrity presenter for

the mid-west “EMMY AWARDS" / NATAS.

  • Grand prizewinner of New Mexico’s version of American Idol called, New Mexico’s Giant Star” sponsored by then governor Bill Richardson and the New Mexico department of tourism.

  • Awarded “Best Male Vocalist” at the prestigious Christian Artists Competition. An international vocal competition including nearly 4,000 international competitors.

  • The video for his version of the song “His Eye Is on the Sparrow”

       won a bronze “Telly Award”.

Roy has also been the musical guest and guest host for numerous television and radio shows all over the United States, as well as opening for mainstream, world renowned musical acts over the span of his career.

Roy generouly supports many charitable organizations, in-kind and financially, such as; The Human Rights Campaign, The Lou Gerig's Disease Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation, Habitat For Humanity, American Leprosy Mission, (of which Roy was a Spokes Person) Meals on Wheels, Various AIDS research funds, The Life Link, World Vision, Equality New Mexico and many homeless agencies and food pantries.
